Minister: Baku business forum to facilitate Jordan-Azerbaijan cooperation

Azerbaijan, Baku, April 12 / TrendN.Ismayilova / The Jordan-Azerbaijan cooperation has been successfully developing in recent years, Economic Development MinisterShahin Mustafayev said at the Jordanian-Azerbaijani business forum in Baku on Tuesday.

"I believe this business forum will give impetus to further expansion of the Jordan-Azerbaijan cooperation that is developing at an intense pace," he said. "The sides already signed several documents on investment promotion, development of the ICT sector and technical cooperation."

He said Azerbaijan's economy occupies 70 percent of the total economy of the South Caucasus. The country’s construction sector grew by 20.3 percent in 2010 and by an overall 7.5 times in the past 10 years.

"Political cooperation between the two countries is at a very high level, and we develop it in other areas. All the necessary legal framework exists to this end and development of the missing documents is underway," he added.

Jordanian Industry and Trade Minister Hani Mulki said bilateral meetings between businessmen and organizations of the two countries will be arranged. This will give impetus to further development of the cooperation.

Azerbaijani National Confederation of Entrepreneurs signs cooperation memorandum with Jordanian Chamber of Commerce 

Azerbaijan, Baku, April 12 / Trend, A. Akhundov / The Azerbaijani National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (ANCE) and the Jordanian Chamber of Commerce signed a memorandum of cooperation on Tuesday.

The memorandum was signed by the ANCE President Mammad Musayev and the Chamber of Commerce Chairman Hatem Alhelavani from the Jordanian side.

The document was signed within the framework of the Azerbaijani-Jordanian business forum, which is underway in Baku. The forum is attended by over 50 businessmen from Azerbaijan and Jordan, specializing mainly in the construction sector, as well as in consulting services.

The event is organized by the Azerbaijani Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO). Bilateral meetings of the business communities of both countries will be held at the event.

Jordanian minister: Azerbaijan moves forward shoulder to shoulder with Muslim countries

Azerbaijan, Baku, April 12 / Trend, A. Akhundov / Azerbaijan is moving forward shoulder to shoulder with the Muslim countries, Jordanian Industry and Trade Minister Hani Mulki told journalists before the Jordanian-Azerbaijani business forum in Baku on Tuesday.

"This will be the second meeting of the intergovernmental commission. The first was held in Amman in 2009," he said.


Mulki said today's meeting will consider the results of the intergovernmental commission’s first session. The meeting will also discuss the current level and prospects of the Jordan-Azerbaijancooperation in various fields.

Mulki said he has already attended the opening of a forum that brought together both countries’ business people operating in the construction industry.

"We can appraise this forum as one of the first meeting results," he added.

A trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Jordan was $2.473 million in 2010, 99.2 percent ($2.453 million) of which fell to the import operation.

Azerbaijan, Jordan sign protocol

Azerbaijan, Baku, April 12 / TrendN.Ismayilova / Azerbaijan and Jordan have signed a protocol after the second meeting of an intergovernmental commission on trade, economic and technical cooperation.

The document was signed by Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev, and Jordanian Trade and Industry Minister Hani Mulki.

"Azerbaijan and Jordan are successfully developing cooperation. After the first meeting of the intergovernmental commission, significant results have been achieved and important documents have been signed, such as a memorandum of understanding between our education ministries," Mustafayev said.

He added that the protocol sums up the second meeting’s results which envisage boosting cooperation in tourism, agriculture, exports and oil and gas. Additionally, the document states that a memorandum of understanding may be signed between the Azerbaijani Export and Investment Promotion Foundation and Jordan’s corresponding agency.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Jordan hit 2.473 million in 2010.
